The Pony Express Monument(Go to the end of the block and turn left at the corner) The Pony Express station was on the east side of this street, just south of the school. This street used to extend north across the valley and then on to Salt Lake City. The Pony Express riders coming from California would enter the town over the bridge by the monument, change horses here, and then continue on to the north. William C. Thomas said that he believed his grandfather, William B. Thomas, was the first Pony Express rider out of Fairfield, and that one of the Carsons delivered the mail to him from the north.
