The Room Above the Dining Room

This room was always one of the family bedrooms. It had a wall-to-wall rag carpet. A coal-oil lamp gave the light. It was always warm from the heat of the room below. There were no clothes closets in the house. Nails and hooks were driven in the walls in one corner and the clothes hung on them. Sometimes a curtain was drawn across the corner to conceal the clothes.

For many years this was Emma Carson's bedroom. Here she slept until her death in 1932. It was then called "Grannies Room."
